Fraud Investigation Services
Updated 31 July 2026 by K3K Investigations
Fraud is only unbeatable while it is invisible. K3K investigates fraud against UK businesses and individuals — identity fraud, invoice and payment-diversion attacks, insurance and internal fraud — and turns what happened into documented, court-ready evidence, with asset tracing where money can still be followed.
Two things matter more than anything else when fraud is discovered: acting quickly, and not tipping off the person responsible. Evidence degrades, funds move, and a premature confrontation destroys both. Call 020 3343 7007 — 24 hours — and talk it through with a senior investigator before you do anything else.
Identity fraud
Someone is using your name, your company's identity or a fabricated identity built from stolen details. We investigate accounts, credit applications, tenancies, directorships and trading conducted in your name; establish how the details were obtained; and document the fraud to the standard banks, credit reference agencies, Action Fraud and the courts require.
For corporate identity fraud — cloned company websites, businesses trading under a near-identical name, fraudulent directorship appointments at Companies House — we evidence the impersonation and support the takedown and correction process.
Identity fraud victims are frequently told to "report it and wait". An independent investigation gives you something to report with: a documented chain of what happened, when, and where the trail leads.
Business and commercial fraud
Invoice and payment-diversion fraud (BEC). The supplier's bank details changed by email and a payment left for an account that was never theirs. We investigate the compromise, trace the beneficiary chain and preserve digital evidence — fast, because recovery windows are measured in days.
Procurement, supplier and kickback fraud. Inflated invoices, phantom suppliers, undisclosed conflicts between staff and vendors.
Internal and accounting fraud. Where the fraud is inside the business, see also workplace investigations and corporate investigations.
Investment and mandate fraud. Fake platforms, cloned regulated firms, and "opportunities" that fail the most basic verification.
Insurance and claims fraud
For insurers, self-insured businesses and legal firms: verification of exaggerated or fabricated personal-injury and liability claims through lawful covert surveillance, activity verification and open-source research, with evidence assembled to the standard civil courts expect.
Fraud against individuals
Romance and investment scams, advance-fee fraud, fraud within families and estates, and money taken by someone in a position of trust. Where the fraud happened online, our cyber investigations team leads; where the person has vanished, our people tracing capability finds them.
Asset tracing and recovery support
Finding out who did it is only half the question — the other half is whether anything can be recovered. We trace assets and beneficial ownership through corporate structures, property records and licensed data sources, and give you an honest read on whether enforcement is worth pursuing before you spend money on it. We are investigators, not a recovery agency: we produce the evidence and the picture, and work alongside your solicitor, who takes the legal action.
How a fraud investigation runs
- Confidential consultation, free. What happened, what evidence exists, what is realistically achievable — and whether your bank, Action Fraud or the police should be your first call. Sometimes they should, and we will say so.
- Preserve immediately. Emails, headers, transaction records, documents, devices and digital artefacts captured with a proper chain of custody before anything is lost.
- Investigate. Financial and corporate record analysis, OSINT, digital forensics and — where the case demands it — lawful surveillance.
- Report. A written, timestamped, court-admissible report setting out what occurred, how it was established and what your options are.
Frequently asked questions
What can a private fraud investigator do that the police cannot?
Not more than the police — different. Police and Action Fraud triage enormous volumes and many economic-crime reports are never individually investigated. A private investigation is dedicated to your case, moves at commercial speed, and produces evidence you own and can use in civil proceedings, insurance claims or internal disciplinary action. Where a criminal offence is disclosed we will always encourage a police report and our evidence supports it.
Are identity fraud investigators able to access bank records?
No — and no legitimate investigator will claim otherwise. Bank statements, phone records and medical records cannot lawfully be obtained without the account holder's consent or a court order; attempting it by deception is a criminal offence under section 170 of the Data Protection Act 2018. What we can do is establish the fraud from records you are entitled to, from corporate and public data, and from open-source intelligence — which in practice is what evidences the case.
Can you recover money lost to fraud?
Sometimes the funds are traceable and recovery is realistic; often they are not. We tell you which of those you are facing before you spend anything on investigation, and we never guarantee recovery — anyone who does is selling you a second fraud. What a professional investigation reliably delivers is evidence, a clear picture of where the money went, and a documented basis for your bank, insurer or solicitor to act on.
How quickly should I act after discovering fraud?
Immediately. For payment-diversion fraud, contact your bank first — recovery chances fall sharply after the first 24–72 hours. For everything else, preserve evidence and avoid alerting the suspect. A five-minute call at 2am on our 24-hour line costs nothing and can materially change the outcome.
Do you work for businesses, insurers and solicitors as well as individuals?
Yes. A significant share of our fraud work is instructed by UK businesses, insurers and law firms, with reporting formatted for tribunal, civil proceedings or board use. We also work directly for individuals, at the same evidential standard.
