Bug Sweeping (TSCM) & Bespoke Investigations
Updated 31 July 2026 by K3K Investigations
If you believe you are being listened to, tracked or watched, we can tell you — properly. K3K conducts technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) sweeps of homes, offices and vehicles, and takes on the complex cases that do not fit any standard service description.
Two kinds of people call us about sweeps: businesses whose confidential discussions keep reaching people who were not in the room, and individuals who have become convinced they are being monitored. Both deserve the same thing — a competent technical answer rather than reassurance or alarm.

Bug sweeping (TSCM)
A professional sweep is a physical and electronic search, not a gadget waved around a room. We examine the environment for radio-frequency transmitters, recording devices, cameras (including devices concealed in everyday objects), telephone and network line anomalies, and vehicle-mounted GPS trackers — combining RF spectrum analysis, non-linear junction detection, thermal and physical inspection.
What we sweep: boardrooms, offices and meeting rooms; homes and individual rooms; vehicles; and hotel or temporary premises before sensitive meetings.
What you receive: a written report of what was examined, what was found, and — where something is found — advice on preserving it as evidence rather than simply removing it. Ripping a device out destroys the best evidence of who put it there; we will discuss that choice with you before acting.
Discretion: sweeps are frequently conducted out of hours or under a cover arrangement so that the sweep itself does not alert whoever placed the device.
### An honest word on sweeps
Most sweeps find nothing. That is a genuine and often enormous relief, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a monthly programme you do not need. Equally, if what you are describing sounds more like a compromised phone or account than a physical device, we will say so — that is a cyber investigation, and it is a different (usually cheaper) job. If you are being followed rather than bugged, counter-surveillance is the answer instead.
Bespoke and complex investigations
Some instructions do not fit a category. We regularly take on:
- Cross-border and international cases, coordinating lawful enquiry in other jurisdictions.
- Asset tracing and pre-litigation intelligence ahead of enforcement — alongside corporate investigations.
- **Due diligence on individuals** in unusual or sensitive contexts.
- Close protection liaison — where an investigation reveals a genuine risk to someone's safety, we coordinate with vetted protection providers.
- Process serving and witness location for legal proceedings.
- Long-running or multi-strand cases combining surveillance, cyber and corporate work under one senior case officer.
If your situation does not obviously match any service page on this site, that is precisely the conversation this page exists for. Tell us the question; we will tell you honestly whether it can be answered, how, and what it costs.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a bug sweep cost in the UK?
Sweeps are quoted per premises after a short scoping conversation, because price is driven by the number and size of rooms, the technical scope and whether out-of-hours access is required. A single-room or vehicle sweep typically starts in the high hundreds; multi-room commercial premises are quoted per project. You get the figure in writing before we attend.
Can you detect a GPS tracker on my car?
Yes — vehicle sweeps for covert GPS trackers, both hard-wired and battery units, are one of our most common requests. If a device is found we advise on preserving it as evidence and on the lawful options for establishing who placed it. Our GPS tracker law guide explains where UK law sits on vehicle tracking.
Can you tell who planted a device?
Sometimes. Devices carry evidence — model, purchase trail, SIM, configuration, recovered data — and combined with who had access to the location it can point clearly at a source. We will not promise attribution before we see what is there, but we will preserve everything that makes it possible.
I think my phone is being monitored — is that a sweep?
Usually not. Phone and account compromise is a digital problem investigated through our cyber investigations service, which examines the device and accounts rather than the room. Tell us the symptoms on the first call and we will point you at the right one — including telling you when neither is needed.
How quickly can you attend?
For urgent commercial matters we can often attend within 24–48 hours, and the phone line is answered around the clock. Sweeps are scheduled discreetly around your circumstances.
Need something that does not fit a category? Describe it to a senior investigator — free, confidential, no obligation. Call 020 3343 7007 (24 hours) or book a call.
